This program pairs “home seekers” in need of affordable housing with “home providers” who own their own home and could benefit from extra income and/or assistance around the house. In our community, home providers are typically older adults struggling financially to maintain their home or single parents with high mortgage payments and utilities. Home seekers, on the other hand, typically include temporary homeless individuals or small families, college students, recently laid-off workers, and those seeking affordable housing.

FAIR HOUSING: Fair Housing means the right to live where you choose, to rent a house or apartment, to own a home- with dignity and without discrimination.  The federal Fair Housing Act says that no one can deny housing to people because of their race, color national origin, religion, sex, family status, or disability- these are "protected classes."  State and local laws include additional protected groups such marital status, age, sexual orientation, veteran/military status, or Section 8 status.
